you’re going on and on, you always sing the same old songs and no one wants to hear about the wars you claimed you won you’re going on and on, you always praise the same old god but no one’s ever seen the guy so can’t we just move on?

we met one summer sunday hiding out behind the church it was 1990 we knew there wasn’t much to learn from the priests or prophets better to explore with hands upon each other’s body so much new to understand everyday things aren’t going as they were supposed to the little boys fall down, the girls don’t grow up as they used to everyday things aren’t going as they were supposed to i spoke of brave new worlds but now it’s clear that i have failed you i shipped away to college i met a writer there i sent his words to you they seemed to speak so clear we drew a plan together between marriage and a parking lot now it seems our understanding may have missed the plot everyday things aren’t going as they were supposed to the little boys fall down, the girls don’t grow up as they used to everyday things aren’t going as they were supposed to i spoke of brave new worlds but now it’s clear that i have failed you everyday things aren’t going as they were supposed to the little boys fall down, the girls don’t grow up as they used to everyday things aren’t going as they were supposed to i spoke of brave new worlds but now it’s clear that i have failed you

you told me you loved me you said that you’d free me i never conceived that you’d betray me this way i’m laying in vomit sick like a junkie the wrist has been knocking at the door i’m afraid i’m afraid i’m afraid what did you put in that drink again? i showed you my secrets you met all my people my soldiers suggested that we push you away i stood by your side just to die at your hands while the wrist is detaining everyone i betrayed i’m afraid i’m afraid what did you put in that drink again? you sold me your story a child so lonely you’d signed with the party just to find your own way i fell for the accent your family’s connected the wrist has been tapping every word that we say i’m afraid i’m afraid what did you put in that drink again? now i know nothing that we’ve done will matter they’ll change the books in all the schools to protect their future ship the kids to terror farms teach them false disasters now i know i’m alone, now i know

everywhere i’ve been it smells like death you look like you know a little about death so buy the next round and i’ll tell you the rest i might just talk you out of taking me bed we stole the car and bought a bag of weed she told me i was all she’d ever need everywhere i’ve been there’s no one left you feel like a girl who knows about being left we drove south from Michigan to Florida but then she dropped me here outside this whiskey bar we stole the car and bought a bag of pot she told her husband she’d be with her mom we never made a map to get back home i knew we’d never make it on our own what if you’re a little girl and no one touches you? what if you’re a little boy and no one is impressed by you? what if you’re no one and nobody ever looks at you? what if your awake staring at the back of her head and she say’s it the end? we stole the car and bought a bag of pot she told her husband she’d be with her mom we never made a map to get back home i knew we’d never make it on our own we stole the car and bought a bag of pot she told her husband she’d be with her mom we never made a map to get back home but i never thought she’s leave me on my own

you’re led away from crowds of people then you’re pushed into the car they fill you up with pills ...and alcohol it’s a quick ride to the station where you dread the plane that’s waiting rush you to another dog and pony show a useless speech for those who don’t believe the party anymore the pills kick in at the podium once again your hoping someone’s gotten in with a gun the pills kick in at the podium you hope that someone’s got a gun the pills kick in at the podium you hope your son is safely gone the pills kick in at the podium you hope that someone’s got a gun the pills kick in at the podium you hope they never hear his songs

you've got a drug doctor and a real sick mother you know you're going nowhere but you'd feel a lot better if the lights on the corner from that new gas station were a little less fluorescent, a lot less like acid you could maybe go outside if you had a couple friends you liked you keep telling yourself someday you'll have something to say (and you'll say it) but she's a thousand piece puzzle so it's safer in the corner cause if a single piece goes missing you might not find the answer so you keep 'em in your pocket and you hide out in the basement you drink your jack and coke alone you beat your head until it sounds great but you won't go out cause there's a war tonight that sweater makes you look pale it doesn't fit right out there in the dark it's so hard to find new friends cause everyone looks so cool everyone looks so cool everyone but you everyone looks so cool

sebastian, read the memo. it was a stupid idea to send me away. i can’t be in seattle knowing the turmoil that your dealing with in the capital. yes, i do i believe in symbols because it’s all that we have left. don’t you see that the architects never even managed to complete the foundation and now they’ve all gone deaf. please remember that when the dust finally settles there, the man with the whitest smile tells the boldest lies. and please remember that everyone you admire is in the past. these are not the men that you swore allegiance too. read the memo, it’s been slowly breaking apart for the last year. i’m going to return tomorrow because i know that i’m all that you truly have left to believe in. ever since he died there is a sadness in your eyes that every man can see. it’s time to prove that your sadness isn’t a weakness. you should climb the walls, take back our houses and bring the kids home from the terror farms. please close the terror farms. it’s time to rise up and redeem the name and the honor of the wrist. it’s time to give the people their voices and their power back or there’ll be no future at all for this country. read the memo, everything you fought for is finished now. it was a perfect ideal that we both gave our youth away for. but, now the party is old and broken. the widow is blind with power. after all these years she’s forgotten the books that lead us this far. so now you must put down your books and codes. read these letters and understand that you have your woman at your side. i will always stand strong and be brave with you. we both know the time has come. it’s time to start a war
