I'm Afraid (Of The Wrist)

from The Wrist vs The Futurist Party by Allegra Gellar

/

lyrics

you told me you loved me
you said that you’d free me
i never conceived that you’d betray me this way
i’m laying in vomit
sick like a junkie
the wrist has been knocking at the door i’m afraid

i’m afraid
i’m afraid
what did you put in that drink again?

i showed you my secrets
you met all my people
my soldiers suggested that we push you away
i stood by your side
just to die at your hands
while the wrist is detaining everyone i betrayed

i’m afraid
i’m afraid
what did you put in that drink again?

you sold me your story
a child so lonely
you’d signed with the party just to find your own way
i fell for the accent
your family’s connected
the wrist has been tapping every word that we say

i’m afraid
i’m afraid
what did you put in that drink again?

now i know nothing that we’ve done will matter
they’ll change the books in all the schools to protect their future
ship the kids to terror farms teach them false disasters
now i know i’m alone, now i know
